A September ARRI release adds an IP-networking signal to the camera-equipment market: SMPTE ST 2110 workflows are now supported on the ALEXA 35 Live multicamera system through LPS-1 SUP 1.5.0.

The technology announcement

ARRI’s September 9, 2026 press release describes uncompressed video, audio and metadata transport over 25GbE, along with SMPTE ST 2022-7 redundancy to protect live production streams against selected network-path failures. A permanent software license is part of the workflow. The release is a manufacturer statement about product capability; it is not a survey of California studios that have deployed the update.

Why this matters for production operations

More IP-capable camera systems can reduce dependence on bespoke point-to-point signal routing in some multicamera environments. For camera, video-assist, broadcast engineering, stage infrastructure and integration vendors, the relevant preproduction questions are switch bandwidth, PTP timing, interoperability, failover testing, network segmentation and qualified technical support. Cinematic image quality by itself does not make a networked live workflow reliable.

Measurement and verification

Version: LPS-1 SUP 1.5.0. Standard: SMPTE ST 2110; referenced resilience: SMPTE ST 2022-7. Target environments: broadcast studios, stadiums, flypacks and remote production. Measure local demonstrations, supported configuration, cost and real deployment only from subsequent operator or vendor documentation. No verified new purchase order, rental booking or engineering job accompanies this announcement.
