CONFIRMED: ARRI Film Lab 1.5 Expands Film-Look Control and Postproduction Performance

SOCIALBILITTY TRADE DESK / CONFIRMED / Research verified October 17, 2026

ARRI’s October software release adds simulated film formats, new grain controls and faster processing, with workflow implications for colorists.

What is established

ARRI announced Film Lab 1.5 on October 12, 2026. The OpenFX plugin adds 8 mm, 16 mm and 65 mm simulated film-look bases alongside 35 mm; controls for grain size, detail rendering, anamorphic ratios and halation; and expanded ACES 2.0 support. ARRI says the update offers processing up to four times faster under supported conditions.

What this means for production

A postproduction workflow update belongs in Vendors, Gear & Systems, even though no physical camera is being shipped. Editors and colorists should test source-camera compatibility, color transforms, render consistency and hardware performance under real project conditions. ‘Up to four times faster’ is a vendor performance claim, not an independent benchmark for every suite. A software release does not establish a new postproduction hiring requirement.

What to verify next

Compatibility with actual finishing platforms, license and support terms, performance with production media and any changes to delivery specifications. Report measured crew or facility uptake only if independently substantiated.

Data point

Release: October 12, 2026; four film-format look bases; manufacturer-reported up to 4× processing speed.

Evidence note: Unless an official employer opening is explicitly verified, this Trade Desk brief does not establish an open crew position or guarantee future work.
